Alabama All-Star Game

1971

The North All-Stars won a 9 to 7 victory over the South when Danny Ridgeway, the North quarterback from Fyffe, kicked a 33 yard field goal in the last eight seconds of the 24th Annual Alabama High School Football Classic in Denny Stadium. This win for the North broke a four-game winning streak for the Southern All-Stars.

This year's All-Star game was blessed by some of the best athletes in years. Singled out as the Most Outstanding Back was Mike Washington, Lee of Montgomery. The selection for the Most Outstanding Lineman honors ended in a tie between Lee Gross from Lee of Montgomery and Rex Bramlett from West End. All played for the Southern All-Stars.

The North winning coaching staff was made up of Charles R. "Buddy" Hearn, Head Football Coach from Tarrant; R. F. Mosby, Cobb Avenue; Conrad Nix, Talladega County; Ronnie Haushalter, Fyffe; and C. D. Elliott, Sulligent.
