Summary:
         Hokes Bluff claimed the first state championship in school history by dismantling Tarrant 23-0 at Legion Field in Birmingham. Junior quarterback Jake Ball scored twice, Jonathan Denson booted a 32-yard field goal, Brandon Harcrow returned an interception for a touchdown and the Eagles shut out Tarrant 23-0 to claim the Class 3A championship.
         Hokes Bluff scored 16 points in the final quarter after nursing a 7-0 lead for the first three periods. A field goal and a Brandon Hargrow 42 yard interception return sealed the victory for the Eagles.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
