Summary:
Valley Head running back, Jeff
Harrison, rushed for 108 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead
the Tigers to their first ever state championship in four
playoff appearances.
The Sweet Water Bulldogs were led by
Marvin Lockett's 30-carry 163 yard performance. Valley Head
scored on their first possession of the game on a 14-play 77
yard drive when Harrison took it in from one yard out to put the
Tigers up 7-0.
Following a blocked punt, the
Bulldogs scored on Lockett's 6 yard run with 1:36 left in the
half. The two-point try was missed and the Tigers still led 7-6
at intermission.
Following a Bulldog punt in the third
quarter, Valley Head took over at the Sweet Water five-yard line
after John Kirby returned the punt 60 yards. Two plays later,
Harrison scored his second touchdown and the Tigers led 13-6. |
