 The 1962 Cullman Bearcats were chosen Class 4A State Champions by the Birmingham Post Herald
 

 
 

The Cullman Bearcats finished the 1962 season with a perfect 7-0 Tennessee Valley Conference record and 10-0 for the season to claim their first every state title.

Offensively Cullman averaged 39 points a game with their closest game coming against Decatur in a 20-0 victory. They were led on offense by Wayne Trimble and Leslie Kelley.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
