1959 Valley

1959 Valley
 Record: 9-0
 Head Coach: Doug Lockridge

The 1959 Valley  were chosen as Class 2A  Region 2  State Champions by the Birmingham News.
 Summary:

Head coach Doug Lockridge and assistant Virgil Holder assembled an explosive offense at Valley in 1959. Their efforts produced two first team all-state players in Barry Daniels at halfback and Jimmy Meadows at the end position. The offense was also led by Henry Frazier at quarterback and Mickey Sherrer at tackle.

The Rams lost their last game in 1958 to B.B. Comer 19-0 but would not lose a game the entire 1959 season, finishing a perfect 9-0. The Rams shocked a few teams during the season including a 32-0 victory over perennial power Sidney Lanier and also won a battle of unbeaten teams when they thrashed Central Phenix City 35-7 on November 6th. Everyone thought this game would be for bragging rights in the eastern side of the state but Valley proved too strong for the Red Devils.

The final game against the same Lanett team that had defeated them in 1958 proved to be little trouble as the Rams prevailed 26-6.
