Tuscaloosa High School put in a claim for the National Interscholastic Championship after defeating McKinley Tech of Washington DC 19-6. It was the most difficult game for the Black Bears in the past four seasons. The game, played at Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, was the 62nd win in the past 65 games for the Black Bears.

McKinley hung tough throughout the first half of play battling to a 6-6 deadlock. The heavier Tuscaloosa team would wear down the visitors in the third quarter with a strong running attack. The Black Bears scored two quick touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

After a scoreless first quarter the Black Bears would strike for six when Holley would go around left end for 18 yards and the score. The Techsters from the nations capital would counter with an 80 yard run from halfback Fountain. Cochrane would score both of Tuscaloosa's touchdowns in the third quarter on short runs up the middle.
