NBA Players from Alabama

Alabama has been fortunate to have many high school basketball players move on to the National Basketball Association. Two of these players achieved the highest honor of all in the game by being elected to the NBA Hall of Fame. They are Artis Gilmore and Charles Barkley.

The first player to appear in a NBA game, according to our records was Bennie Swain of Westside High School in Talladega. Swain was drafted in the first round by the Boston Celtics in 1958.
