Alabama All-Star Game

1981

The North stars ended a five-game losing streak in a 14-6 victory with a surprise ending. On the final play of the game, Jimmy Warren of Ensley weaved his way 78 yards for a touchdown after a desperation field goal as most of the South players stood and watched or began congratulating their North opponents.

Taking a 2-0 lead on a safety in the second quarter, the North drove 76 yards in 11 plays for a touchdown in the third quarter behind the running of Ricky Moore, Lee of Huntsville standout named the game's most valuable back. Moore had 45 yards in the march capped by a one-yard touchdown by Ross Dye of Munford.

Don Horstead of Elba scored the South touchdown from the one with four minutes left, but the South's tW0-point conversion try failed and the North held to its 8-6 lead.

Moore was the game's leading rusher with 85 yards in 12 carries. Horstead led the South with 28 yards.

The North's Tandy Rogers of Parker and Hardv Walker of Grissom tied in the voting for the game's most valuable lineman.
