 2022 Preview 


       Boaz completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region seven, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Boaz's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Parker by a score of 31-21.

       Since 2010, Boaz has gone a combined 55-73. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Boaz has managed to compile a record of 132-137. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 5A and 204th in the AHSAA.




       The Pirates are led by head coach Jeremy Sullivan who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 25-29 over the past five seasons at Boaz. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sullivan.

       Coach Sullivan's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 32-42 (43.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Sullivan's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

       The Boaz Pirates will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2022 season.

       The Pirates will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season.

       The Pirates open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Jacksonville on Friday, August 19 at Golden Eagle Stadium. Last year the Jacksonville Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 4A region four. The Golden Eagles lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to American Christian by a score of 49-35.

       Boaz and Jacksonville have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 2-2-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in 2007 with Boaz winning by a score of 20-10.

       Boaz returns 5A All-State Senior defensive back Korbyn Pitts. He was named to the second team last season.
