 2018 Preview

Ramsay completed the 2017 season with a 7-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 6A region five, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Ramsay reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Pinson Valley by a score of 41-13.

The Rams hope to get back closer to the 13-2 record in 2016.

Ramsay is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only six seasons. They have managed a record of 40-30 over the past six years.

The Rams are led by head coach Reuben Nelson who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 40-30 over the past six seasons at Ramsay. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Nelson. Coach Nelson led Ramsay to a state championship in 2016.

Coach Nelson's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 80-58 (58.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Nelson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won three region championships.

The Ramsay Rams will play in Class 5A region four during the 2018 season. The Rams may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region four this year.

The Rams will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season.

The Rams open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Minor on Thursday, August 23 at Minor Stadium. Last year the Minor Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 6A region six. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Spain Park by a score of 49-14.

Ramsay and Minor have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Rams have a 3-0-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Ramsay winning by a score of 40-20.
