 2018 Preview

Ardmore finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Ardmore finished seventh in Class 5A region eight with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018.

Ardmore was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.1 points a game.

Since 2010, Ardmore has gone a combined 35-66. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 29 seasons, Ardmore has not won much with a record of 82-172. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 5A and 347th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach P.J. Wright as they enter the 2018 season.

The Ardmore Tigers will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2018 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season.

The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent West Morgan on Friday, August 24 at Cooper Field. Last year the West Morgan Rebels finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 3A region eight. The Rebels lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Sylvania by a score of 48-21.

Ardmore and West Morgan have met a total of 30 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 9-21-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 1999 with West Morgan winning by a score of 50-0.
