 2018 Preview

Wilson completed the 2017 season with a 10-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region eight, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Wilson reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Cherokee County by a score of 28-24.

The Warriors won as many games as in any season since 1998.

The defense was very stingy last season as Wilson ranked 30th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 13.3 points a game.

Since 2010, Wilson has gone a combined 47-38. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Wilson has managed to compile a record of 125-127. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 4A and 178th in the AHSAA.

The Warriors will be under the direction of new head football coach Jeremy Jeffreys/Matt Poarch as they enter the 2018 season.

The Wilson Warriors will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2018 season.

The Warriors should be considered one of the favorites for the region eight championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

The Warriors open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Sheffield on Thursday, August 23 at Walton R. Wright Stadium. Last year the Sheffield Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 2A region eight. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Fyffe by a score of 48-0.

Wilson and Sheffield have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 7-15-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2017 with Wilson winning by a score of 27-0.
