 2018 Preview

Wadley completed the 2017 season with a 12-1 record. The Bulldogs cruised through the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record going into the post season. Last year Wadley captured the region four title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Wadley made a nice playoff run in 2017, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Sweet Water team by the score of 27-21.

The Bulldogs won as many games as in any season since 2005. The 663 points scored by the Bulldogs last year were a team record in a single season.

The high-scoring Wadley offense ranked 1st in the AHSAA. They averaged 51.0 points a game.

The Bulldogs defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 6th in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 9.5 points a game.

Over the past two seasons the Bulldogs have gone 22-2 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Wadley has gone a combined 56-33. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Wadley has managed to compile a record of 176-101. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 1A and 66th in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs will be under the direction of new head football coach Jonathan Farr as they enter the 2018 season.

The Wadley Bulldogs will play in Class 1A region four during the 2018 season.

The Bulldogs enter the 2018 season riding a 22 game regular season winning streak.

The Bulldogs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

The Bulldogs open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Woodland on Friday, August 31 at Curtis Lynch Stadium. Last year the Woodland Bobcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 2A region five. The Bobcats ended last season on a positive note with a win over Donoho by a score of 14-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Wadley and Woodland have met a total of 80 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 43-35-2 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2017 with Wadley winning by a score of 47-7.

Wadley returns 1A All-State  offensive lineman Chaz Harmon. He was named to the first team last season. The Bulldogs also return  defensive lineman Chris Hodges. He was named to the first team.
