 2018 Preview

Loachapoka finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Loachapoka just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region three with a 2-4 region record.

Since 2010, Loachapoka has gone a combined 39-49. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Loachapoka has managed to compile a record of 156-114. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 1A and 108th in the AHSAA.

The Indians will be under the direction of new head football coach L.C. Cole as they enter the 2018 season.

Coach Cole's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 26-38 (40.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cole's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

The Loachapoka Indians will play in Class 1A region four during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Indians remain in 1A but move from region three over to region four. The Indians have one of the toughest schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 61-40 last season. That ranks 1st in Class 1A and 34th in the AHSAA.

Region four will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season.

The Indians enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. It will be an uphill battle for the Indians if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. After just 2 wins last year, Loachapoka will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

The Indians open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Beulah on Friday, August 24 at Loachapoka Stadium. Last year the Beulah Bobcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 3A region three. The Bobcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Holtville by a score of 47-34.

Loachapoka and Beulah have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Indians have a 24-11-0 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2005 with Loachapoka winning by a score of 43-0.
