Lanett completed the 2017 season with a 15-0 record. Last year Lanett captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. The Panthers reeled off five straight playoff wins to claim the Class 2A State Championship by defeating Leroy at the Alabama Super Seven 33-15 in Auburn.

No team at Lanett ever won more games in a season than the fifteen victories last year.

The high-scoring Lanett offense ranked 12th in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.9 points a game.

The Panthers defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 24th in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 12.3 points a game.

Over the past two seasons the Panthers have gone 26-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Lanett has gone a combined 59-31. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Last year the Valley Rams finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in fifth place in Class 5A region four. The Rams closed out the regular season with a loss to Eufaula by a score of 52-17.
