They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Hackleburg reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Addison by a score of 41-16.

As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Hackleburg has gone a combined 71-22. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Hackleburg has managed to compile a record of 179-91. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 1A and 57th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2007.

The Panthers are led by head coach Rod Hudson who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 85-23 over the past nine seasons at Hackleburg. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times. They have won five region crowns with Coach Hudson.

The Hackleburg Panthers will play in Class 1A region eight during the 2018 season.

The Panthers should be considered one of the favorites for the region eight championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Panthers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2007 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

The Panthers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Winston County on Friday, August 24 at Malcolm Blake Stadium. Last year the Winston County Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 2A region seven.        Hackleburg and Winston County have met a total of 13 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 4-9-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 1987 with Winston County winning by a score of 62-23.

Hackleburg returns 1A All-State  running back Stone Fincher. He was named to the first team last season.
