 2018 Preview 


       Flomaton completed the 2017 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Flomaton finished sixth in Class 3A region one with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Flomaton has gone a combined 52-37. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Flomaton has managed to compile a record of 142-114. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 3A and 131st in the AHSAA.




       The Hurricanes are led by head coach Doug Vickery Jr. who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 77-54 over the past twelve seasons at Flomaton. Under his direction the Hurricanes have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Vickery Jr..

       Coach Vickery Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in eighteen season stands at 103-92 (52.8%). His 103 wins rank 57th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Vickery Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times .

       The Flomaton Hurricanes will play in Class 3A region one during the 2018 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Hurricanes could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Flomaton missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2018.

       The Hurricanes open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Jay FL on Friday, August 24.

       Flomaton and Jay FL have met a total of 68 times on the football field. The Hurricanes have a 42-25-1 record against Jay FL. They last met in 2017 with Flomaton winning by a score of 36-7.

       Flomaton returns 3A All-State  athlete Dequan Johnson. He was named to the second team last season.
