 2017 Preview 


       Moody completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Moody finished eighth in Class 5A region five with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Blue Devils last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Moody was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Blue Devils want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.6 points a game.

       Since 2010, Moody has gone a combined 29-43. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 5A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Moody has managed to compile a record of 112-150. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 5A and 256th in the AHSAA.

       The Blue Devils are led by head coach Jay Brown who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-33 over the past six seasons at Moody. Under his direction the Blue Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Brown.

       Coach Brown's overall record as a head football coach in eighteen season stands at 97-94 (50.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Brown's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won three region championships.

       If Moody can win three games this season, Coach Brown will reach the 100 win milestone.

       The Moody Blue Devils will play in Class 5A region five during the 2017 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Blue Devils if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season.

       The Blue Devils open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Springville on Thursday, August 31 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Springville Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region six. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to St. Clair County by a score of 28-22.

       Moody and Springville have met a total of 37 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 21-16-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Moody winning by a score of 8-7.
