 2017 Preview

Hanceville finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Hanceville finished sixth in Class 3A region six with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Bulldogs last playoff victory came during the 1995 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Hanceville has gone a combined 38-35. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Hanceville has managed to compile a record of 114-148. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 3A and 250th in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs are led by head coach Craig Flanigan who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Hanceville. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Flanigan.

Coach Flanigan's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-7 (30.0%).

The Hanceville Bulldogs will play in Class 3A region six during the 2017 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Bulldogs if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season.

The Bulldogs open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Cold Springs on Friday, August 25 at Ray Talley Stadium. Last year the Cold Springs Eagles finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 2A region seven. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Sheffield by a score of 27-14.

Hanceville and Cold Springs have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 6-2-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2016 with Hanceville winning by a score of 20-8.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
