Over the past 25 seasons, Fairfield has managed to compile a record of 134-135. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 5A and 189th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2007. After just two seasons, L.C. Cole was not retained as the head football coach at Fairfield. His teams finished a combined 13-9 and 1-1 in the playoffs. Keon Handley arrives in Fairfield after one season at the helm in Selma where his team finished with a 1-9 record. Handley returns to the school he graduated from in 1997. Coach Handley's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%). The Fairfield Tigers will play in Class 5A region five during the 2017 season. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 62-49 last season. That ranks 9th in Class 5A and 61st in the AHSAA. The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Central Phenix City on Friday, September 1 at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.
