 2017 Preview 


       Arab completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region seven, the Arabian Knights earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Arab's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Brooks by a score of 56-30.

       The Arabian Knights hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Gilbert saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-9 record in 2015.

       Since 2010, Arab has gone a combined 36-39. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 5A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Arab has managed to compile a record of 101-168. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 5A and 296th in the AHSAA.

       The Arabian Knights are led by head coach Adam Gilbert who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-18 over the past three seasons at Arab. Under his direction the Arabian Knights have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Gilbert.

       Coach Gilbert's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 44-32 (57.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Gilbert's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times .

       The Arab Arabian Knights will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2017 season.

       The Arabian Knights will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season.

       The Arabian Knights open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Grissom on Friday, August 25 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Grissom Tigers finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 7A region four. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Brewer by a score of 55-12.

       Arab and Grissom have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Arabian Knights have a 5-5-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Arab winning by a score of 20-7.
