 2017 Preview

Anniston finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Anniston finished sixth in Class 4A region five with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Bulldogs lost as many games as in any season since 2006.

Anniston was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Bulldogs want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.2 points a game.

Since 2010, Anniston has gone a combined 37-40. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Anniston has managed to compile a record of 150-133. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 4A and 159th in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs are led by head coach Eddie Bullock who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 37-40 over the past seven seasons at Anniston. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Bullock.

Coach Bullock's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 37-40 (48.1%).

The Anniston Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region five during the 2017 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Bulldogs if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. After just 2 wins last year, Anniston will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

The Bulldogs open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Sylacauga on Friday, September 1 at Legion Stadium. Last year the Sylacauga Aggies finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class 5A region four. The Aggies lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Calera by a score of 35-34.

Anniston and Sylacauga have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 9-6-0 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2016 with Sylacauga winning by a score of 36-35.
