Winterboro completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region four, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Winterboro's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Isabella by a score of 46-6. It marked the first time since the 2012 season that the Bulldogs qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Winterboro has gone a combined 36-38. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 1A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Winterboro has managed to compile a record of 105-158. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 1A and 284th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Alan Beckett who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-25 over the past four seasons at Winterboro. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Beckett. The Winterboro Bulldogs will play in Class 1A region four during the 2017 season. The Bulldogs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Bulldogs open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Keith on Friday, August 25 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Keith Bears finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 2A region four. The Bears lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to New Brockton by a score of 45-16. Winterboro and Keith have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 2-0-0 record against the Bears. They last met in 2016 with Winterboro winning by a score of 28-14. Winterboro returns 1A All-State Senior defensive back Cameron Borden.
