 2017 Preview 


       Valley finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Valley finished seventh in Class 5A region four with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Valley averaged scoring just 11.4 points a game.

       The Rams would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Valley has gone a combined 33-42. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 5A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Valley has managed to compile a record of 157-134. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 5A and 147th in the AHSAA.

       The Rams are led by head coach Bradley Lowe who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Valley. The Rams have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Lowe.

       Coach Lowe's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

       The Valley Rams will play in Class 5A region four during the 2017 season. The Rams have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 64-50 last season. That ranks 7th in Class 5A and 54th in the AHSAA.

       The Rams enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 8 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Rams will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region four.

       The Rams open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Lanett on Friday, August 25 at Rams Field. Last year the Lanett Panthers finished with an overall record of 11-3 and in second place in Class 2A region five. The Panthers lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 2A playoffs to Fyffe by a score of 33-20.

       Valley and Lanett have met a total of 92 times on the football field. The Rams have a 58-32-2 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2016 with Lanett winning by a score of 26-0.
