 2017 Preview 


       Saraland completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 5-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region one, the Spartans earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Saraland's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Park Crossing by a score of 45-7.

       Since 2010, Saraland has gone a combined 55-28. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons. Their last losing season was 2010.

       The Spartans are led by head coach Jeff Kelly who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 52-21 over the past six seasons at Saraland. Under his direction the Spartans have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Kelly.

       Coach Kelly's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 99-55 (64.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Kelly's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won one region championship.

       Coach Kelly can top the 100 win milestone early in the season with just one more victory.

       The Saraland Spartans will play in Class 6A region one during the 2017 season.

       The Spartans will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2010 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2017.

       The Spartans open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Heard County GA on Friday, August 25.

       This will be the second meeting between Saraland and Heard County GA on the football field. The Spartans have a 1-0-0 record against Heard County GA. They last met in with
