2017 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Randolph completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Raiders earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Randolph's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Rogers by a score of 42-6. The Raiders have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2017. Since 2010, Randolph has gone a combined 27-45. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 10 seasons, Randolph has managed to compile a record of 39-57. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 4A and 275th in the AHSAA. The Raiders have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. The Raiders are led by head coach Nick Flanagan who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-9 over the past two seasons at Randolph. Under his direction the Raiders have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Flanagan. Coach Flanagan's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 13-9 (59.1%). The Randolph Raiders will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2017 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Raiders could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. Unfortunately, Randolph finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. The Raiders open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Brewer on Friday, August 25 at SportsMed Field. Last year the Brewer Patriots finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 6A region seven. The Patriots ended last season on a positive note with a win over Grissom by a score of 55-12 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Randolph and Brewer have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 1-2-1 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2016 with Randolph winning by a score of 28-2. Randolph returns 4A All-State Senior linebacker Jackson Vest. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Raiders also return Senior athlete Sam Kimel. He was named to the first team. College prospects include: Levon Fletcher (5-11, 168) defensive back, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
