Ohatchee completed the 2016 season with a 12-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region five, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Ohatchee made a nice playoff run in 2016, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Piedmont team by the score of 53-26. The Indians improved in 2016 with their first winning season since 2007. The Indians won as many games as in any season since 1977. The 589 points scored by the Indians last year were a team record in a single season. It marked the first time since the 2003 season that the Indians qualified for the playoffs. The Indians hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Martin saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 4-6 record in 2015. The high-scoring Ohatchee offense ranked 16th in the AHSAA. They averaged 42.1 points a game. Since 2010, Ohatchee has gone a combined 25-49. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 3A and 241st in the AHSAA. The Indians are led by head coach Scott Martin who is entering his fourth season at the helm. The Indians open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Ragland on Friday, August 25 at Roy C. Owens Field. Last year the Ragland Purple Devils finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 1A region four. The Purple Devils lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Notasulga by a score of 37-36. Ohatchee and Ragland have met a total of 29 times on the football field. The Indians have a 26-3-0 record against the Purple Devils.
