 2017 Preview

Ohatchee completed the 2016 season with a 12-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region five, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Ohatchee made a nice playoff run in 2016, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Piedmont team by the score of 53-26.

The Indians improved in 2016 with their first winning season since 2007. The Indians won as many games as in any season since 1977. The 589 points scored by the Indians last year were a team record in a single season. It marked the first time since the 2003 season that the Indians qualified for the playoffs. The Indians hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Martin saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 4-6 record in 2015.

The high-scoring Ohatchee offense ranked 16th in the AHSAA. They averaged 42.1 points a game.

Since 2010, Ohatchee has gone a combined 25-49. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 3A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Ohatchee has managed to compile a record of 123-153. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 3A and 241st in the AHSAA.

The Indians are led by head coach Scott Martin who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-17 over the past three seasons at Ohatchee. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Martin.

Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 43-35 (55.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Martin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times .

The Ohatchee Indians will play in Class 3A region five during the 2017 season.

Region five will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Indians should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.
