 2017 Preview 


       Northside completed the 2016 season with a 6-4 record. Last year Northside just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region four with a 4-3 region record.

       The Rams have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2017.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Northside ranked 22nd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.9 points a game.

       Since 2010, Northside has gone a combined 36-37. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Northside has managed to compile a record of 94-172. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 4A and 314th in the AHSAA.

Darrin Hughes leaves Northside as the head football coach after one season with a 6-4 record.


Chris Hilliker returns to Northisde after a season away from the program. He put together a 27-16 record between 2012-2015 at Northside.



       Coach Hilliker's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 73-56 (56.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Hilliker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times .

       The Northside Rams will play in Class 4A region four during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Rams could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season. Unfortunately, Northside finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. Northside came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

       The Rams open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent American Christian on Friday, August 25 at Freedom Field. Last year the American Christian Patriots finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region four. The Patriots lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Pike County by a score of 27-22.

       Northside and American Christian have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Rams have a 5-9-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2016 with Northside winning by a score of 21-14.
