 2017 Preview 


       Northridge finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Northridge just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region four with a 2-4 region record.

       The Jaguars hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just three games which followed a 9-3 record in 2015.

       Since 2010, Northridge has gone a combined 37-39. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 14 seasons, Northridge has managed to compile a record of 60-86. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 6A and 274th in the AHSAA.

       The Jaguars are led by head coach Mike Vickery who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Northridge. The Jaguars have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Vickery.

       Coach Vickery's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-7 (30.0%).

       The Northridge Jaguars will play in Class 6A region four during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Jaguars could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season. Northridge came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

       The Jaguars open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Theodore on Friday, August 25 at C.A. Douglas Field. Last year the Theodore Bobcats finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 7A region one. The Bobcats ended last season on a positive note with a win over Foley by a score of 35-10 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Northridge and Theodore have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 0-2-0 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2016 with Theodore winning by a score of 30-6.

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
