 2017 Preview

Hatton completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Hatton finished sixth in Class 2A region eight with a 2-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Hatton was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Hornets want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.4 points a game.

Since 2010, Hatton has gone a combined 28-43. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 2A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Hatton has managed to compile a record of 124-136. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 2A and 206th in the AHSAA.

The Hornets are led by head coach Denton Bowling who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Hatton. The Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bowling.

Coach Bowling's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-6 (40.0%).

The Hatton Hornets will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2017 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Hornets if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season.

The Hornets open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent R.A. Hubbard on Friday, September 1 at R.A. Hubbard Stadium. Last year the R.A. Hubbard Chiefs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region seven. The Chiefs closed out the regular season with a loss to Sheffield by a score of 57-8.

Hatton and R.A. Hubbard have met a total of 30 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 17-13-0 record against the Chiefs. They last met in 2016 with Hatton winning by a score of 14-6.
