2017 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dothan completed the 2016 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region two, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Dothan's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Blount by a score of 15-7. The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2010. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 1997 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Dothan averaged scoring just 10.6 points a game. Since 2010, Dothan has gone a combined 35-39. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Dothan has managed to compile a record of 118-146. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 6A and 244th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Kevin Jackson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-7 record in his first season at Dothan. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson. Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-7 (36.4%). The Dothan Tigers will play in Class 6A region two during the 2017 season. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Enterprise on Friday, August 25 at Wildcat Stadium. Last year the Enterprise Wildcats finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 7A region two. The Wildcats lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs to McGill-Toolen by a score of 27-23. Dothan and Enterprise have met a total of 88 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 39-46-3 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2016 with Enterprise winning by a score of 38-12. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
