 2017 Preview 


       Brookwood completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Brookwood finished sixth in Class 6A region four with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Panthers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history.

       Since 2010, Brookwood has gone a combined 26-45. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Brookwood has not won much with a record of 64-188. Their 25.0% winning percentage ranks 58th in Class 6A and 367th in the AHSAA. The Panthers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time.

       The Panthers are led by head coach Tracy Dunn who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-15 over the past two seasons at Brookwood. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Dunn.

       Coach Dunn's overall record as a head football coach in fifteen season stands at 38-114 (25.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Dunn's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

       The Brookwood Panthers will play in Class 6A region four during the 2017 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Panthers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season.

       The Panthers open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent West Blocton on Thursday, August 24 at Billy Joe Young Field. Last year the West Blocton Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region four. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Handley by a score of 49-7.

       Brookwood and West Blocton have met a total of 68 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 29-36-3 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with West Blocton winning by a score of 32-20.
