 2017 Preview 


       Brewer finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Brewer finished seventh in Class 6A region seven with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Patriots have not qualified for the playoffs since the 1999 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history.

       The Patriots would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the Brewer football program has struggled with a record of 12-57.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Brewer has not won much with a record of 67-196. Their 26.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 6A and 363rd in the AHSAA. The Patriots have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 1999.

       The Patriots are led by head coach Geoff Walters who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 3-17 over the past two seasons at Brewer. The Patriots have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Walters.

       Coach Walters' overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 35-51 (40.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Walters' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won two region championships.

       The Brewer Patriots will play in Class 6A region seven during the 2017 season.

       This season, the Patriots will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven.

       The Patriots open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Randolph on Friday, August 25 at SportsMed Field. Last year the Randolph Raiders finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region seven. The Raiders lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Rogers by a score of 42-6.

       Brewer and Randolph have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 2-1-1 record against the Raiders. They last met in 2016 with Randolph winning by a score of 28-2.
