Blount completed the 2016 season with a 10-3 record. Last year Blount captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-1 record. Blount lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Park Crossing team by a score of 54-51. Since 2010, Blount has gone a combined 57-24. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Blount has managed to compile a record of 180-105. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 6A and 69th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2010. The Leopards are led by head coach Lev Holly who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-5 over the past two seasons at Blount. Under his direction the Leopards have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Holly. The Blount Leopards will play in Class 6A region one during the 2017 season. The Leopards should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Leopards have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2006 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Leopards open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Vigor on Friday, August 25 at Leopards Stadium. Last year the Vigor Wolves finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in first place in Class 5A region one. The Wolves lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Beauregard by a score of 48-20. Blount and Vigor have met a total of 52 times on the football field. The Leopards have a 14-38-0 record against the Wolves. They last met in 2016 with Blount winning by a score of 29-20. Blount returns 6A All-State Senior receiver Collins Woods III. He was named to the second team last season.
