 2017 Preview

Beauregard completed the 2016 season with a 13-1 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region four, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. The Hornets reeled off five straight playoff wins to claim the Class 5A State Championship by defeating Wenonah at the Alabama Super Seven 33-13 in Auburn.

No team at Beauregard ever won more games in a season than the thirteen victories last year. The 666 points scored by the Hornets last year were a team record in a single season.

The high-scoring Beauregard offense ranked 5th in the AHSAA. They averaged 47.6 points a game.

Over the past two seasons the Hornets have gone 24-2 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Beauregard has gone a combined 69-16. Their 81.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 5A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Beauregard has managed to compile a record of 168-116. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 5A and 99th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2005.

The Hornets are led by head coach Rob Carter who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 31-5 over the past three seasons at Beauregard. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won one region crown with Coach Carter. Coach Carter led Beauregard to a state championship in 2016.

Coach Carter's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 31-5 (86.1%).

The Hornets capped off their best season in school history with their first state championship last year.

The Beauregard Hornets will play in Class 5A region four during the 2017 season.

The Hornets enter the 2017 season riding a 8 game winning streak. Beauregard has won 7 consecutive region games. They have won 23 straight games on their home turf at Hornet Stadium.

While most teams rebuild during the off season, Beauregard has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Hornets enter the season with expectations of not only a region title but reaching the state championship game. They are considered one the favorites in region four and should be a team in the thick of the hunt to represent the South in the Class 5A Super Seven come December. The Hornets have succeeded in reaching the playoffs every year since 2008 and this year should be no exception.

Jaichis Holmes returns for his Senior season after completing 63 of 107 passes for 1058 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for 425 yards and another 10 scores.

Senior Ladamian Webb returns after rushing for 3,235 yards on 311 carries and scoring 42 TDs. He also gained 254 yards receiving. Senior Jacob Callaway also returns after rushing for 657 yards on 74 carries and scoring 10 TDs.

The defense returns Senior linebacker Hunter Feaster (175 tackles), Senior defensive end Terrell Atkins (84 tackles and 6 sacks) and Junior free safety Jared McDonald (93 tackles).

The Hornets open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Greenville on Friday, September 1 at Hornet Stadium. Last year the Greenville Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in fifth place in Class 5A region two. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to McAdory by a score of 35-20.

Beauregard and Greenville have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 2-3-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Beauregard winning by a score of 39-13.

Beauregard returns 5A All-State Senior linebacker Hunter Feaster. He was named to the first team last season. The Hornets also return Senior running back LaDamian Webb. He was named to the first team.

College prospects include: Danyton Thomas (6-0, 185) cornerback, Ladamian Webb (5-9, 195) running back,
