Winfield completed the 2015 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Winfield captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 3A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Pirates since the 2005 season. Winfield reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Colbert County by a score of 26-20. The Pirates won as many games as in any season since 2007. The high-scoring Winfield offense ranked 21st in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.5 points a game. Since 2010, Winfield has gone a combined 39-26. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Winfield has managed to compile a record of 177-108. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 4A and 77th in the AHSAA.
