 2016 Preview 


       Northside completed the 2015 season with a 7-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region four, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Northside's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Trinity by a score of 14-7.

       The Rams have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2016.

       The defense was very stingy last season as Northside ranked 15th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 11.5 points a game.

       Since 2010, Northside has gone a combined 30-33. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Northside has not won much with a record of 88-168. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 4A and 321st in the AHSAA.

Chris Hilliker has stepped down as the head football coach at Northside. In four seasons, his teams went a combined 27-16 but 0-4 in the playoffs.


Darrin Hughes will take over the head coaching duties for the 2016 football season at Northside. He most recently served as the defensive coordinator at the school as well as being the assistant head coach.



       The Northside Rams will play in Class 4A region four during the 2016 season.

       The Rams should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Rams open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent American Christian on Friday, August 19 at Northside Stadium. Last year the American Christian Patriots finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 3A region four. The Patriots lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Hillcrest Evergreen by a score of 30-27.

       Northside and American Christian have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Rams have a 5-9-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2013 with Northside winning by a score of 28-21.

       Northside returns 4A All-State Senior linebacker Preston Malone. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
