Murphy completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 7-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 7A region one, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Murphy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lee Montgomery by a score of 37-21.

The Panthers had some tough luck last season as three of their four losses were by less than eight points.

Since 2010, Murphy has gone a combined 40-26. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Murphy has managed to compile a record of 167-110. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 7A and 89th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2003.

Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cauley.

Coach Cauley's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 14-8 (63.6%).

The Murphy Panthers will play in Class 7A region one during the 2016 season.

The Panthers should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

The defense will be led by senior linebacker Kendric Haynes who registered 8 sacks last season.

Running back Nichols Sims returns for his senior season after rushing for 737 yards and 7 touchdowns as a junior last year.

The Panthers open the 2016 season on the road against region opponent Alma Bryant on Friday, August 26 at Hurricane Stadium. Last year the Alma Bryant Hurricanes finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in ninth place in Class 7A region one. The Hurricanes closed out the regular season with a loss to Murphy by a score of 48-6.

Murphy and Alma Bryant have met a total of 24 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 19-5-0 record against the Hurricanes. They last met in 2015 with Murphy winning by a score of 48-6.
