2016 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Donoho finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 3-6 record. Last year Donoho finished sixth in Class 1A region five with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Donoho took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2009. The Falcons lost as many games as in any season since 2009. The Falcons hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just three games which followed a 11-1 record in 2014. Since 2010, Donoho has gone a combined 45-20. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Donoho has managed to compile a record of 142-127. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 1A and 156th in the AHSAA. The Falcons are led by head coach Andy McWilliams who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-6 record in his first season at Donoho. The Falcons have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach McWilliams. Coach McWilliams' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-6 (33.3%). The Donoho Falcons will play in Class 1A region four during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Falcons remain in 1A but move from region five over to region four. It will be an uphill battle for the Falcons if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. The Falcons open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Jacksonville Christian on Friday, August 19 at Tommy Miller Field. Last year the Jacksonville Christian Thunder finished with an overall record of 4-5 and in fifth place in Class 1A region seven. The Thunder closed out the regular season with a loss to Verbena by a score of 46-28. Donoho and Jacksonville Christian have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Falcons have a 8-1-0 record against the Thunder. They last met in 2013 with Donoho winning by a score of 55-33. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
