 2016 Preview

Beauregard completed the 2015 season with a 11-1 record. The Hornets cruised through the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record going into the post season. Last year Beauregard captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Beauregard lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Jackson team by a score of 31-28.

No team at Beauregard ever won more games in a season than the eleven victories last year. The 571 points scored by the Hornets last year were a team record in a single season.

The high-scoring Beauregard offense ranked 3rd in the AHSAA. They averaged 47.6 points a game.

As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Beauregard has gone a combined 56-15. Their 79.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Beauregard has managed to compile a record of 155-115. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 5A and 108th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2005.

The Hornets are led by head coach Rob Carter who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 18-4 over the past two seasons at Beauregard. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Carter.

Coach Carter's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 18-4 (81.8%).

The Beauregard Hornets will play in Class 5A region four during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Hornets remain in 5A but move from region three over to region four. The Hornets have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 66-45 last season. That ranks 7th in Class 5A and 35th in the AHSAA.

The Hornets enter the 2016 season riding a 12 game regular season winning streak. Beauregard has won 8 consecutive region games. They have won 17 straight games on their home turf at Hornet Stadium.

The Hornets should be considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Hornets have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2008 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

Ladamian Webb returns for his junior season after rushing for 1,775 yards last year.

The Hornets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Greenville on Friday, August 26 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Greenville Tigers finished with an overall record of 11-1 and in first place in Class 5A region two. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to St. Pauls by a score of 24-23.

Beauregard and Greenville have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 2-3-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in with
