 2016 Preview

John Carroll finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year John Carroll finished eighth in Class 6A region five with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

No team at John Carroll ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The last time they lost as many was back in 1990. The defense allowed a team record 403 points last season. The Cavaliers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2009 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Cavaliers last playoff victory came during the 2004 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

The offense struggled putting points on the score board as John Carroll averaged scoring just 10.6 points a game. The Cavaliers also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 40.3 points a game.

The Cavaliers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, the John Carroll football program has struggled with a record of 14-46.

Over the past 25 seasons, John Carroll has managed to compile a record of 106-158. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 6A and 277th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

Tim Sanders leaves John Carroll after just three seasons with the football program. His teams went 2-8, 1-9 and 0-10 over the past three seasons with the school.

John Carroll High School principal announced the new head football coach. His name is Logan Colafrancesco. He was the offensive coordinator at Moody High School last year.

He has coached at John Carroll in 2006, Spain Park, Oxford, Oak Mountain, Pinson Valley and Enterprise. He is a graduate of John Carroll.

The John Carroll Cavaliers will play in Class 6A region five during the 2016 season.

The Cavaliers enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

This season, the Cavaliers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at John Carroll will be to simply win some games.

The Cavaliers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Hayden on Friday, August 26 at Robert W. Reid Stadium. Last year the Hayden Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in third place in Class 5A region six. The Wildcats lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Guntersville by a score of 26-10.

John Carroll and Hayden have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Cavaliers have a 1-1-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in with
