2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Holtville finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Holtville finished seventh in Class 4A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. No team at Holtville ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The defense allowed a team record 480 points last season. The Bulldogs have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Bulldogs last playoff victory came during the 1993 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Holtville was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Bulldogs want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.9 points a game. Holtville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 48.0 points a game. The Bulldogs would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the Holtville football program has struggled with a record of 11-50. Over the past 25 seasons, Holtville has not won much with a record of 78-180. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 55th in Class 4A and 343rd in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Hunter Adams who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 3-37 over the past four seasons at Holtville. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Adams. Coach Adams' overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 3-37 (7.5%). The Holtville Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region three during the 2016 season. The Bulldogs enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 20 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Bulldogs will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Holtville will be to simply win some games. The Bulldogs open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Marbury on Friday, August 26 at Boykin Field. Last year the Marbury Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 5A region three. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to St. James by a score of 42-22. Holtville and Marbury have met a total of 75 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 46-25-4 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2015 with Marbury winning by a score of 56-27. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
