 2016 Preview 


       Helena completed the 2015 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region four, the Huskies earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Helena reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Beauregard by a score of 30-7.

       The Huskies enjoyed the first winning season in the school's history in 2015. No team at Helena ever won more games in a season than the nine victories last year. The 359 points scored by the Huskies last year were a team record in a single season.

      

       Helena is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only two seasons. They have managed a record of 14-9 over the past two years.

       The Huskies are led by head coach Watt Parker who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-9 over the past two seasons at Helena. Under his direction the Huskies have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Parker.

       Coach Parker's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen season stands at 83-71 (53.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Parker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won one region championship.

       The Helena Huskies will play in Class 6A region three during the 2016 season. The Huskies move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Huskies enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. They have won 6 straight games on their home turf at Husky Stadium.

       The Huskies should be in contention for a playoff spot in region three this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

      Quarterback Riley Davis returns for his senior season after completing 74 of 153 passes for 989 yards and 9 touchdowns as a junior last season.

       The Huskies open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Mountain Brook on Friday, August 26 at Spartan Stadium. Last year the Mountain Brook Spartans finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 7A region three. The Spartans ended last season on a positive note with a win over Huffman by a score of 17-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Helena and Mountain Brook have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Huskies have a 0-2-0 record against the Spartans. They last met in with
