 2016 Preview

Headland completed the 2015 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Headland finished sixth in Class 4A region two with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Rams have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Rams last playoff victory came during the 1988 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Headland was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Rams want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.1 points a game.

Since 2010, Headland has gone a combined 23-38. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Headland has not won much with a record of 80-174. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 5A and 332nd in the AHSAA. The Rams have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time.

The Rams are led by head coach Scott Glenn who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Headland. The Rams saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Glenn arrived. The Rams have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Glenn.

Coach Glenn's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-6 (40.0%).

The Headland Rams will play in Class 5A region two during the 2016 season. The Rams move up in classification to Class 5A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

It will be an uphill battle for the Rams if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

The Rams open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Dale County on Friday, August 19 at J.J. Yarborough Stadium. Last year the Dale County Warriors finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 3A region two.

Headland and Dale County have met a total of 78 times on the football field. The Rams have a 42-35-1 record against the Warriors. They last met in 2015 with Headland winning by a score of 53-0.
