 2016 Preview 


       D.A.R. completed the 2015 season with a 8-3 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. D.A.R.'s season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Fayette County by a score of 49-38.

       No team at D.A.R. ever won more games in a season than the eight victories last year. The 392 points scored by the Patriots last year were a team record in a single season. The Patriots have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2016. The Patriots hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Rhoades saw improvement as they won eight games following a 2-8 record in 2014.

       Since 2010, D.A.R. has gone a combined 24-39. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 10 seasons, D.A.R. has managed to compile a record of 42-61. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A and 271st in the AHSAA. The Patriots have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time.

       The Patriots are led by head coach Bobby Rhoades who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-11 over the past two seasons at D.A.R.. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Rhoades.

       Coach Rhoades' overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 14-17 (45.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Rhoades' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The D.A.R. Patriots will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2016 season.

       Region seven will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Patriots could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. Unfortunately, D.A.R. finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason.

       The Patriots open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Douglas on Friday, August 26 at Authur Jarvis Stadium. Last year the Douglas Eagles finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 5A region seven.

       D.A.R. and Douglas have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 12-4-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2015 with D.A.R. winning by a score of 27-7.
