2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Childersburg finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Childersburg finished sixth in Class 4A region three with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Childersburg took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2011. The defense allowed a team record 380 points last season. Childersburg struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 38.0 points a game. Since 2010, Childersburg has gone a combined 25-39. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Childersburg has managed to compile a record of 103-156. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 43rd in Class 4A and 282nd in the AHSAA. Adam Fossett resigned to accept the head coaching position at Smiths Station after four seasons at Childersburg. His teams went a combined 23-21 and 1-3 in the postseason playoffs. His last team at Childersburg finished 2-8 which was the most losses by any team in his eight year career at Winterboro and Childersburg. In his only seasons as head football coach at Holt, Jonathan Beverly led the Ironmen to a 2-8 record. In 2016 he will be the new head coach at Childersburg. He is a former Samford offensive lineman with a wealth of knowledge as he coached on both sides of the ball during stops in Alabama and Kentucky. Coach Beverly's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 2-8 (20.0%). The Childersburg Tigers will play in Class 4A region three during the 2016 season. This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Pell City on Friday, August 26 at John Cox Stadium. Last year the Pell City Panthers finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 6A region three. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Spanish Fort by a score of 24-10. Childersburg and Pell City have met a total of 42 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 18-22-2 record against the Panthers. They last met in 1995 with Childersburg winning by a score of 24-14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
