 2016 Preview 


       With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 7A region 2, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Auburn reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to McGill-Toolen by a score of 42-3.  The defense allowed a team record 298 points last season.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Auburn has gone a combined 51-19. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Auburn has managed to compile a record of 169-111. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 7A and 92nd in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Adam Winegarden who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-5 record in his first season at Auburn. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Winegarden.

       Coach Winegarden's overall record as a head football coach in six seasons stands at 56-16 (77.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Winegarden's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won three region championships.

      

      The Auburn Tigers will play in Class 7A region 2 during the 2016 season.

       The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 2 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Carver Montgomery on Thursday, August 18 at Duck Samford Stadium. Last year the Carver Montgomery Wolverines finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 6A region 2. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Jeff Davis by a score of 51-9.

       Auburn and Carver Montgomery have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 11-6-0 record against the Wolverines. They last met in 2017 with Auburn winning by a score of 27-0.
