 2016 Preview 


       Last year Arab finished sixth in Class 6A region 7 with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Arab has gone a combined 30-34. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Arab has managed to compile a record of 95-163. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 5A and 299th in the AHSAA.

       The Arabian Knights are led by head coach Adam Gilbert who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-13 over the past two seasons at Arab. Under his direction the Arabian Knights have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Gilbert.

       Coach Gilbert's overall record as a head football coach in six seasons stands at 38-27 (58.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Gilbert's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

      

      The Arab Arabian Knights will play in Class 5A region 7 during the 2016 season. The Arabian Knights may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region 7 this year.

      

       The Arabian Knights open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Grissom on Friday, August 19 at Arab Stadium. Last year the Grissom Tigers finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 7A region 4. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Lee Huntsville by a score of 34-0.

       Arab and Grissom have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Arabian Knights have a 5-5-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Arab winning by a score of 20-7.
